ZERSEN FAMILY REUNION ITINERARY

Zersen, Germany, 2011

 

Three nights at the Three Star Hotel, Die Pappmuehle, just outside the Village of Zersen at the foot of the Hohenstein. Maximum capacity 12 double rooms, 3 single rooms, dorm for children and teens, some children’s accomodations in parents rooms. Additional facilities in partner hotel in neighboring Fischbeck.

08:00 - Breakfast Buffet at Pappmuehle

09:00 - Guided hike to the Hohenstein peak (moderate difficulty)

Stops at Bloody Brook, Charlemagne’s Slaughter Field, Green Altar of the pagans, with fables from our ancestors told along the way by a regional storyteller.

12:00 - Lunch at the Pappmuehle

13:30 - Afternoon Visit to Zersen and Krueckeberg

(home church of Zersens and Clausings - wife of Carl Ludwig Zersen)

Coffee and Kuchen at the Krueckebeerg Church

16:00 - Freetime in the Bavarian Garden at the Pappmuehle

19:00 - Dinner at Pappmuehle

10:00 - Sunday Worship at St. John’s, Fischbeck, Home Church of Haddessen Zersens

11:00 - Guided Tour of Fischbeck Abbey by a resident of Zersen

12:00 - Lunch at Pappmuehle

13:00 - Departure

 

All-inclusive costs for the three night/three day reunion experience are provided on the cost sheet. Individual event costs for German relatives who choose to attend only some events are provided separately.

 

With the arrival of Sunday afternoon, attendees at the reunion can choose to remain at the Pappmuehle for a longer stay (by pre-arrangment) to visit some of the additional sites in this quaint area, or they can choose to participate in a post-reunion visit to a prominent area of Germany. Currenttly under consideration is Munich, which would allow visits to major cultural experiences (museums, concert, beer halls, etc.) as well as the German alps immediately to the south and quaint villages like Noerdlingen, Dinklelsbuehl and Rothenburg ob der Tauber to the northwest. Costs for an additional one-week stay can be proposed, but arrangements will need to be made by the participants who may choose to work this out as a group experience. Further details on this to follow.
